What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive complementary therapy which is based on the theory that different points on the feet and hands correspond with different areas of the body. By working these areas or 'reflexes' using different pressure and massage techniques, reflexology can encourage the body to balance itself and heal.
Reflexology may help to improve circulation, release toxins, reduce tension and restore balance in the body to aid relaxation and promote health and wellbeing. It's a wonderful way to relax and ease any tension from our fast-paced, modern way of living and offers an opportunity for some self-care, something we are not always good at prioritising!

What are the benefits of reflexology?
As a holistic practitioner, I will support you as a whole person to promote your wellbeing, however I cannot diagnose, prescribe or cure. People usually report feeling more relaxed at the end of a treatment, may sleep better and notice a feeling of improved mood and general wellbeing. You may notice improvements in other areas too but this happens on a very individual basis. The only way to know if reflexology will help you is to try it!
Who is reflexology suitable for?
Reflexology is suitable for people of all ages from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. It is a very personalised treatment which will be tailored to your individual needs but can be used to support fertility and pregnancy, those living with chronic conditions or health symptoms. There may occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment, please contact me to discuss your situation and I will be able to advise you.
What happens at a treatment?
Before your first treatment, you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire, providing me with some information on your medical history, to help me to tailor your treatment for you. At the first session, we will discuss your health goals and expectations for the treatment. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie down on my reflexology couch. I will make sure you are warm and comfortable using cushions and blankets and the treatment will begin. At the end of the treatment, I will provide you with a glass of water, explain my findings to you and provide any relevant aftercare advice.
Disclaimer
Reflexologists do not diagnose or treat disease and recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice. Reflexology acknowledges that each person is unique and it is not possible to know in advance how a person will react to a treatment. Occasionally people may report a mild headache, feeling tired or needing to go to the toilet more often following their treatment. These are normal reactions and should pass within 24-48 hours. Reflexologists believe this is part of the healing process.
